Our Commitment: This campaign will be bold yet respectful.
Today we’re announcing an initiative to give our youth a chance to connect across the town of Greenburgh. This is part of our goal of building our town’s identity, connecting our neighborhoods, and creating opportunities for the public to have a voice on important local issues.
The Westchester Youth Congress will consist of three representatives from each grade of each high school in Greenburgh. We will invite the other towns in Westchester catch up to us after we get this off the ground. Greenburgh leads the way!
This initiative simply will not work without the insight and experience of forward thinking educators from across our great town. If you are a current or former high school teacher in Greenburgh who would like to build this program with us, please fill out this 5-question form.
The Westchester Youth Congress will be a formal campaign initiative, and after the election in November the Greenburgh Town Council will have the opportunity to make this a formal program of the town.
To keep costs low and to fit into students’ busy schedules, Youth Congress representatives will meet through well-structured online video meetings. With a strong organizing team of teachers, we will work out important security and privacy concerns.
We expect that students will use the Youth Congress platform to explore local issues from different perspectives and to advocate for real-world solutions.
Participating in this program will give students a remarkable story to tell on their college applications. Please share this opportunity with your favorite teachers.
